Linda learned from several career fields---sales, marketing, office management, mental health therapy, and education where she was a teacher or counselor at the elementary through community college levels. These experiences gave her an appreciation of the contributions all of us make to our community.
She has served on numerous community boards: the Festival of the Arts Committee, the WIthlacoochee Regional Planning Council, Habitat for Humanity and the Citrus County Fair among others. She believes in serving the children and families of Citrus County through school and community interaction and stresses excellence in education for all children, creating lifelong learners and encouraging children to be caring, involved citizens.
Linda has lived in Inverness for thirty-one years. She is married to Dr. David Powers, has three children, Faith, Wes and Shelbie, and two grandchildren, Valentina and Annabelle.
Linda is in her third term as a school board member. In 2004 she was elected to serve the remaining two years of Sandra “Sam” Himmel’s term when she became Superintendent. Linda was re-elected in 2006 and 2010.
