Xander recognized at board meeting

During today's regular meeting of the Citrus County School Board, Citrus High School student Xander Jenkin was recognized for his recent accomplishment. Xander was chosen as the 2019 Congressional App Challenge winner for Florida District 11.

Earlier last year, Congressman Webster announced the Congressional App Challenge to high school students throughout the nation and even visited CHS to encourage Computer Science Academy students to enter the competition. Jenkin, an 11th grader from Citrus County created an app that allows users to take a photo on their phone, upload and scan the photo into the app, and detect any color that is present within the photo. Xander had the opportunity to explain his app to school board members and how he came up with the concept. He also shared why being a part of the Computer Science Academy is so beneficial.
