What is FLPBS?
Forest Ridge is a FLPBS school. FLPBS is the Florida Positive Behavior Support. Unlike traditional discipline, FLPBS is based on understanding why problem behaviors occur - the behavior's function. Each month at FRE we look at positive referrals, bus referrals, and office referrals and use this data to guide our intervention strategies. FLPBS is using evidence-based strategies to assist schools in order to increase academic performance, increase safety, decrease problem behavior, and establish positive school cultures. At FRE we teach school wide expectations daily and focus on the positive. We have school wide FLPBS events quarterly for all students without an office or bus referral. And, each grade levels hosts FLPBS events monthly or at mid-term. So far this school year we have over 500 positive referrals! If you child receives a positive referral, they will receive a phone call home from the principal and the chance to eat with the principal too!
