This week at LMS....

·       This week is Red Ribbon Week!  Please help us take a stance against drugs and have FUN participating in the daily dress up activities (marked below by RRW).  To learn more about Red Ribbon Week, or to enter the photo contest, visit http://redribbon.org/.

·         Does your student have earbuds?  If they are working on Successmaker, in the computer lab, or on the I-pads with sounds, then they need their own earbuds/headphones.  Please help our students be successful with the supplies they need.  Thanks in advance for your help!

·         Yearbooks are available for pre-order.  Secure yours NOW before the price goes up.  The price is $30 until Christmas Break… then it will jump!  Send in checks made out to LMS to Mrs. Martin OR buy online at https://yearbookforer.com/#school/320896/2015.

·        Do you have any Box Tops to turn in?  Submission deadline to be included on the December check is at the end of this week.  Please turn in box tops ASAP!  Thanks!

·         Athletics practices this week:

o   Girls Basketball – daily until 5pm

o   Boys Tennis – Monday through Thursday until 4:30pm

o   Cross Country/Running Club – Monday through Thursday until 4pm

§  Boys planning to try-out for Boys Basketball in January – highly encouraged for you to be running EVERY day to get ready… this is a great way to prepare for your season!!!

o   Cheer – as scheduled

o   Color Guard – as scheduled

Monday 10/27:

·         RRW: Marvel Monday – “Super heroes don’t do drugs”…fight back by channeling your inner super hero in your outfit.

  Tuesday 10/28:

·         RRW: Tacky Tuesday – “Drugs are tacky” support the symbolism with mismatched outfits.

·         Football End of the Season Celebration – 6pm in the LMS Cafeteria

  Wednesday 10/29:

·         Early Dismissal Day – students dismiss at 11:35am.

·         RRW: Whoop it up Wednesday – “Be a team player and DON’T use drugs!” #lmspantherpride day…wear your school spirit!

·         RRW essay due for essay contest – “Explain the negative effects of drugs”

o   Essays should be 4-5 paragraphs and must be typed. Essays should incorporate the posted sources and will be judged on originality and expansion using the E/LA grading rubric for focus, organization, development/support and conventions.

  Thursday 10/30:

·         RRW: Throwback Thursday –“Drugs are not in style!” Dress in your decade: 

6th grade= the 60s              7th grade= the 70s                      8th grade= the 80s

·       Fall Curriculum Night and STEM Fair – 5:30pm-7pm at LMS!

Calling ALL parents and students… we NEED you there!

o   Updates on curriculum and testing

o  AVID open House

o   STEM Fair with hands-on activities and booths from LMS and community

o   8th grade showcase of high school opportunities: IB and Health Academy **Don’t want to miss**

  Friday 10/31: 

·         RRW: Famous Friday – “Be more famous than drugs.” Dress like a celebrity.

·         RRW Locker decorating due for contest – “How my Life is Sweeter Without Drugs”

o   Locker must be decorated PRIOR to homeroom on the due date with NO overhang and must still be functional as a locker.  Decorations must be able to be removed without damaging paint.  Any pictures and wording utilized must be school appropriate.  Lockers will be judged on theme, creativity, drug free message, and design elements.

·         Happy Halloween!  Have a safe weekend.

  Saturday 11/1 and Sunday 11/2:

·         Festival of Arts in downtown Inverness – LMS student artwork will be on display!
