Appreciation Luncheon

On Monday, February 11, Superintendent Sandra “Sam” Himmel, School Board members and Citrus Schools staff honored and celebrated our veterans that volunteered in our Veterans in the Classroom program.

This past fall, 76 veterans visited more than 350 classrooms, reaching more than 7,000 students in Citrus County - sharing about what it means to be a veteran. They also shared stories of what life was like when they served and what it means to our great country.

A special thanks to District Social Studies’s Specialist Al Balk for his work coordinating the program and the entire celebration and to the Culinary Arts students at Withlacoochee Technical College. We also want to thank BREEZ from Citrus High School for leading our luncheon off with some great music honoring our wonderful Veterans.

If you are a veteran and are interested in sharing your service and patriotism with our students - contact Mr. Balk at 352.726.1931 ext. 2490 or balka@citrus.k12.fl.us.

God Bless our Veterans!
