Writing

A writing prompt is given each month. The prompts
are individually composed by each student and alternate between both expository
and narrative formats.
EXPOSITORY WRITING
is used to explain, clarify, inform, define, or instruct.
NARRATIVE WRITING
is used to tell a story using components such as characters, setting, problem,
and solution.
Your child will also have his/her own
Writing Journal to write in
during the school day. Generally, the writing topic is chosen by
the student. The journal is used to allow your child to
become more comfortable with writing and to provide practice with spelling,
high-frequency words, and sentence structure. It is not graded/edited and
instills
confidence to the apprehensive writer.
