The Renaissance Center: A Citrus County Public School

Welcome to the Renaissance Center, Citrus County's alternative education facility for Middle and High School students who demonstrate a lack of appropriate classroom behavior in their home schools. Students at the Renaissance Center participate in a school wide behavior system as well as counseling in order to prepare them for their eventual return to their home schools. The curriculum at The Renaissance meets the Sunshine State Standards and participates in the Citrus County Public Schools instructional time lines.

The Level System, also known as the Positive Behavior System or PBS for short includes levels ranging from level one to off level. As students advance through the level system, they earn more privileges. Students who achieve off level status are ready to return to their home schools and may do so at the end of the current quarter.

In 2006, we opened our new facility at the Lecanto Educational Complex in Lecanto, Florida. This facility provides state of the art teaching facilities for our students including a media center, computer labs, and classrooms which include projectors and integrated computer systems.
At Renaissance, we are committed to our student's success. Our faculty participates in weekly in-service opportunities to better meet our students needs. Each day, learning communities are designed to enhance communication, awareness, and preparation for the coming day. Also at Renaissance, we have a full time School Resource Officer, A full time School Psychologist, and a full time councilor from the Centers.
