Thomas relocated to Citrus County, Florida in 1989 from Stoneham, Massachusetts. Thomas is a strong supporter of technology in education. Thomas understands technology and the important role it plays in assisting students to be successful in learning and preparing our students for careers after they leave school. Technology plays a strong role in Thomas's life and he constantly is researching the newest in technology and keeping his skills and knowledge fresh.

Prior to being elected to the School Board, Thomas has served as a school volunteer, a member of the Parent Teacher Association, and as a member of the School Advisory Enhancement Counsel (SAEC). Thomas was elected and served for 5 years as SAEC Chairperson at Citrus Springs Elementary School (CSES) and Central Ridge Elementary School (CRE). While SAEC Chairperson, Thomas sat on several interview committees and District Advisory Committees. He also served on School Improvement Plan committees for several years. Thomas is passionate about Exceptional Student Education Students and students with learning challenges. Thomas himself is dyslexic (a person with a learning disability), and knows first-hand the challenges that students with learning disabilities face and can appreciate what teachers of students with learning disabilities must do to best assist those students in becoming successful.

Thomas has spent over 20 years in the construction and development business with the majority of that time spent working as a manager and operator of his own successful construction company developing speculative homes in the Central Ridge areas of Citrus County. Thomas's experience has included site selection, feasibility studies, land acquisition, residential and commercial designing, and on-site construction supervision.

In addition to his school service, Thomas works with youth in the community as a certified USA Swimming Coach, coaching swimming for local schools and swim clubs. He has also worked with youth ministries at his church.
