Linda B. Powers
[email protected]

Linda was born and grew up in a small Florida town where she developed a lifelong appreciation of nature, learning and education. She graduated from Clay High School, St. Johns River Junior College, Jacksonville University (B.A. English), Florida State University (M.S. English Education) and Rollins College (M.A. in Guidance and Counseling).

Linda learned from several career fields---sales, marketing, office management, mental health therapy, and education where she was a teacher or counselor at the elementary through community college levels. These experiences gave her an appreciation of the contributions all of us make to our community.

She has served on numerous community boards: the Festival of the Arts Committee, the WIthlacoochee Regional Planning Council, Habitat for Humanity and the Citrus County Fair among others. She believes in serving the children and families of Citrus County through school and community interaction and stresses excellence in education for all children, creating lifelong learners and encouraging children to be caring, involved citizens.

Linda is married to Dr. David Powers and has three children, Faith, Wes and Shelbie, who graduated from Citrus County Schools. In addition, she has two grandchildren, Valentina and Annabelle.

Linda has lived in Inverness since 1977 and is serving in her third full term as a school board member.
