Florida Teacher Certification Examinations

Teacher certification exam requirements are described in Section 1012.56, Florida Statutes, and in 6A-4.0021, Florida Administrative Code. The Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE) include the FTCE Subject Area Examinations, FTCE Professional Education Test, and FTCE General Knowledge Test.

The Florida Department of Education determines individual testing requirements for certification. If you have a certification application on file, the FLDOE will inform you of your individual testing requirements.

The Florida Department of Education advises teacher candidates to apply for certification before applying to take certification examinations. To apply for certification online, visit the Educator Certification Website. http://www.fldoe.org/edcert/

After your application for certification is on file, the Florida Department of Education will issue you an Official Statement of Status of Eligibility. This statement will indicate your individualized testing requirements. If you are required to take one or more tests you can access all testing information at the following site http://www.fl.nesinc.com/ . Once your certification application is on file, you may check your application status by contacting the FLDOE toll free at (800) 445-6739 or by visiting the their website at http://www.fldoe.org/edcert/
