This afternoon, before a full audience, Dr. Scott Hebert was formally sworn in as the new Superintendent of Citrus County Schools during the annual Citrus County School Board Organizational meeting. To begin the proceedings, Dr. Hebert invited his pastor, Reverend Ray Cortez of Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church, to deliver the invocation.
Administering the oath of office for Dr. Hebert was Mr. Darrick Buettner, Director of Special Academic Programs. During the ceremony, Dr. Scott Hebert expressed heartfelt gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the students, staff, and families of the district. Surrounded by his family, colleagues, board members, and community leaders, the event celebrated the start of an exciting new chapter for Citrus County Schools under Dr. Hebert's leadership.
Ken Frink, the newly elected School Board member for District 2, officially assumed his role, succeeding longtime board member Ginger Bryant. Dr. Scott Hebert administered the oath of office to Frink, who was joined by his family for the memorable occasion.
School Board member, Sandy Counts was also sworn in for her third term and was unanimously elected as Chairperson for the 2024-2025 term. This marks Counts’ third time leading the board as Chair. Joseph Faherty was also elected as Vice Chairperson, solidifying the board's leadership team with a unanimous 5-0 vote. Congratulations to both on their new roles!
Former School Board Chairman Thomas Kennedy was presented with a plaque by Dr. Scott Hebert thanking him for his tenure as Chairman.
Rachel Montgomery, who has served as our Threat Management Supervisor for the past two school years, was sworn in by outgoing Police Chief and Sheriff – Elect David Vincent as our new Chief of Police for the Citrus County Schools Police Department. She was joined by her husband and the rest of her family by her side.
All Regular School Board Business Meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month beginning at 4:00 p.m. Any Special Meetings/Workshops will be called as needed.
School board members also voted 5-0 to rehire Wes Bradshaw, the school board attorney.
