Description: The SAT and ACT are very similar. This class starts with the SAT and then covers items that are unique to the ACT. A student taking this class will be prepared for both the SAT and the ACT.

Intended for: Any student in high school who wants to improve his/her SAT or ACT scores!

Benefits:  Students planning to go to college must take either the ACT or SAT. Also, students applying for Bright Futures Scholarships will also need the SAT and ACT.

Course Info: Each course takes 3 Saturdays to complete. There is one Saturday devoted to English; one Saturday, to reading; and one Saturday, to math

Location:  All SAT and ACT Classes will be conducted by zoom meetings. The links to the zoom meetings will be sent via text remind to students who register for the class.

Materials:   Students will be sent links to free, online materials that are available through Collegeboard or ACT.org. Students should have a calculator, pencil, and paper too.

Class:  We suggest that a student doing this prep class set up their zoom space to simulate a real testing condition. Students should consider sitting at a table and being dressed as if this were the testing day. The more you practice under testing conditions, the better it is for you.

Instructors:    Instructors for this class will be teachers at one of the three high schools. All teachers have experience with both the SAT and ACT exams. The instructors so far are below.

Math—Mrs. Cooper (CHS)
Reading/Science—Mrs. McKenna (CHS)
English—Mr. Buettner

Zoom:  All zoom meetings are recorded. While students are technically in school, it is expected that students

Etiquette:  exhibit exemplary behavior. Instructors can kick out a student from the zoom who is misbehaving. Students are expected to be dressed appropriately. Students should ask questions through the chat feature and stay muted for the majority of the class.

Signing up for the class DOES NOT sign you up for the test. You will need to do this part.
