Optional iPad Insurance for Parents

Citrus County School Board members recently offered information on optional iPad insurance for students and their families.  The deadline to buy optional insurance is September 30, 2019.

After hearing of several families who were having to fix or buy new school-issued iPads for their children, Director of Educational Technology Kathy Androski and her team researched several companies who specialize in iPad insurance.

Androski and her team said while there were limited options, one of the best solutions they found was the company Securranty.  At a cost of $29.95 a year, parents can file unlimited claims with Securranty for up to $350 in coverage for a host of issues, from cracked screens to theft.  There is a zero-deductible.

Parents can visit https://www.securranty.com/ for more information about the insurer.  Citrus County Schools is not endorsing this company, or helping to facilitate payment between it and parents.  We simply researched insurance companies for families and are offering our feedback.  Parents — insured or not — are responsible for either compensating the district for damaged devices or paying for repairs.

The device, accessories, and all necessary software is provided free of charge but, in accordance with district policy, parents/guardians may be held financially responsible for damage, loss, or theft of the device under certain circumstances.
