CRHS Vet Techs and Buddy the dog
Posted on 03/21/2024
The Academy of Health Careers Vet Assistant students and teacher Annaliese Leazott got a special visitor this week. This visit all stemmed from a conversation between school board member, Thomas Kennedy and local journalist, Mike Wright. Mike just adopted a shelter dog named Buddy, who had some physical issues. Mr. Kennedy was talking to Mike about possibly profiling the Veterinarian Assistant Pathway at CRHS and the visit was set.
As you can see from the pictures, the students enjoyed learning about Buddy's ailments and special needs through hands-on learning. It allowed them to inspect and see first-hand how to handle a dog that may not be able to do all of the things a young dog can do.
Buddy was weighed, had his ears cleaned and toenails trimmed. Of course, he received lots of snuggles and love from the future vet techs and teacher.
Thanks to Mike Wright for bringing Buddy to the CRHS campus, to Mr. Kennedy and teachers, Ms. Leazott and Ms. Owens for making it all happen. It was a great day in Pirate Country!
