A big surprise for students at Lecanto High School today as Northern Tool and Equipment visited with administration and students to give a hefty donation worth up to $25k to the school's welding program. LHS is one of five schools across the nation that are receiving a donation.
The Tools for the Trades program works to encourage and empower students to pursue a career in the skilled trades by making donations of professional-grade tools and equipment to schools.
“We are so grateful for partners like Northern Tool + Equipment for making the pathway for our students easier,” says Superintendent Sam Himmel. “Partnerships like these are the reason we can give real-world experiences to our students. I want to congratulate these students who have worked so hard in these trades’ programs, and we hope these donations continue to support students in their paths to skilled trade careers.”
Several people were on hand to welcome Northern Tool + Equipment including Dr. Scott Hebert, newly appointed Assistant Superintendent; Joe Faherty, School Board member; Jason Koon, LHS Principal; and Shaunda Burdette, Citrus County Education Foundation Executive Director.
Plus, all of the students received a cool Northern Tool + Equipment buckets filled with awesome accessories, along with a $50 gift card.
