Red Ribbon Week 2023
Citrus County Students will celebrate Red Ribbon Week(National Drug Free Awareness Week) Activities beginning October 23rd in schools, going through October 31st. Teachers will be participating in the annual Door Decorating Contest, and there will be an Outdoor Decorating Contest between Safety Patrols at Elementary Schools. Students in Middle School may participate in the annual Essay competition through the ELA departments, and High School Students may participate in the "Prevention With A Purpose" Media competition.
The Anti-Drug Coalition will be out in area schools with giveaways for Middle and High School students, along with the Florida National Guard performing on-site demonstrations about the effects of tobacco and nicotine use with lung displays. Each school will have their own "spirit days" so we encourage parents to see what is scheduled for their students.
The message of Red Ribbon Week extends beyond the school walls and into the community. It serves as a reminder that everyone has a role to play in drug prevention and recovery support. Throughout this week and beyond, the red ribbon symbolizes unity and commitment to a drug-free world. In every classroom, assembly, and conversation, students, teachers, and communities are coming together to raise awareness about substance abuse, making a positive impact one ribbon at a time.
