On Monday, April 8th, our area will experience a partial solar eclipse. Due to safety concerns, Citrus County Schools will move all outdoor activities indoors next Monday, between 1:30PM-4:00PM. This includes recess, PE, and all athletic practices. The district will move those activities indoors to ensure the safety of all students and staff until 4:00PM. Since dismissal takes place during the two and a half-hour timeframe, teachers, administrators, and bus drivers will remind students not to look directly at the sun during the ride home.
In addition to safety reminders this week, the district also encourages parents to discuss this natural phenomenon and safe viewing decisions with their children.
